(e)Check in with students to be certain that all the A’s have a story in mind by asking “Raise your hand if you have not yet been able to think of a story.” If one or two students raise their hands (some students may have difficulty thinking of a past experience in the moment), the teacher can offer some additional tips to help, such as “Think of a time when you were last upset or unhappy with what you did or what someone else did, or perhaps did not do, that was disappointing to you.” Encourage students to “Go with the first story that comes to mind. There is no need to avoid a story that you worry is not interesting enough.”
